Global Change Student Research Grant Competition

CIFAR continues to be a major partner in the Global Change Student Research Grant Competition. Initiated in 1992 at UAF by the Center for Global Change, this competition is designed to give students experience with proposal writing and the peer review system as practiced by science funding agencies, while providing funding for student research on global change presented in an interdisciplinary context, with an arctic or subarctic focus. The work may involve the social, biological, or physical sciences and/or engineering.

Thanks to generous new investments in 2009 by University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton and University of Alaska Anchorage Chancellor Fran Ulmer, the competition has expanded to include UAA undergraduate and graduate students, and the maximum award amounts have increased.

A list of student projects supported by CIFAR in 2009 and 2010 can be found here.

Names and project titles of students supported by the Cooperative Institute for Arctic research ("old CIFAR") through this competition from 2004 through 2008 can be found here.
